Earlier, Russia's consumer rights and human welfare authority, Rospotrebnadzor, announced that the "Vector" research center in the country has created a vaccine for Marburg fever. This vaccine has already completed preclinical trials and demonstrated its effectiveness.
Russian scientists have already developed all versions of vaccines against the Marburg virus due to its similarity to the Ebola fever. We understand all the mechanisms of the vaccine's action, member of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection Alexander Petrov told Sputnik.
"This virus is structurally very close to the Ebola fever virus. Therefore, due to the similarity, of course, scientists have already developed all the vaccine options. We understand the mechanisms of the vaccine, […] the methods of vaccine administration," he said.
He noted that the Marburg virus belongs to the category of pathogens, that is, complex and severe diseases; therefore, "Russia should be armed with a vaccine, just in case."

Russia Has Made Significant Progress on Vaccine Against Marburg Virus, Says Minister of Health
In his opinion, Russia is one of the countries that is very strong in combating infectious diseases and epidemics; "others learn from us."

"Today there are a bunch of scandals about foreign vaccines, thousands of reports of side effects. In the Russian Federation regarding 'Sputnik', we practically have no reports. […] Therefore, there is no doubt about the level of competence and qualification of our scientists who create vaccines," Petrov noted.

The lawmaker added that it is now possible to predict the clinical effect of the vaccine against the Marburg virus; "errors are unlikely."
"Therefore, I have absolutely no doubt in our science and that the vaccine will be precise, specifically against a particular virus," Petrov concluded.
