09:01 19.03.2025 (Updated: 11:08 19.03.2025) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Israel Defense Forces announced massive airstrikes on Hamas targets in Gaza on Tuesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office stated the attacks resumed after Hamas rejected the US plan to extend the ceasefire and continue releasing hostages.
The
South African Foreign Ministry has condemned Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, saying that attacks on densely populated areas are a flagrant violation of international law.
"South Africa condemns the massive Israeli airstrikes launched across Gaza on Tuesday, which have killed over 350 Palestinians … The airstrikes were concentrated on heavily built-up neighborhoods, makeshift schools and residential buildings where people have been sheltering, which is again a blatant violation of international law, including international humanitarian law," the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The ministry recalled that the rulings of the
International Court of Justice oblige Israel to take all measures in its power to prevent "acts of genocide" in the enclave.
The
Algerian Foreign Ministry also stated on Tuesday that the latest deadly Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip are a clear breach of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
The ministry condemned the airstrikes, describing them as a "clear disregard for international laws and humanitarian principles," and urged for "immediate action to hold Israel accountable for violating the ceasefire and to ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians."
Algeria reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their right to an independent and sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the statement.
According to the latest data from Gaza's health ministry, more than 419 people have been killed and more than 500 injured in the latest strikes.
