BEIJING (Sputnik) - BRICS is an intergovernmental association founded in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil. South Africa joined in 2011. Since the beginning of 2024, a number of other countries have joined BRICS as full members and partner countries.
BRICS is becoming a reliable pillar of cooperation in the Global South and an engine of growth, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at an annual press conference on Friday.

"The Global South must become stronger. Indonesia became a full member of BRICS early this year, and we congratulate it on this. At the same time, nine partner countries have joined the big BRICS family. BRICS is becoming a reliable pillar of cooperation in the Global South and an engine of growth," Wang said.

He called to make BRICS stronger.
