MONTEVIDEO (Sputnik) - Guided by the motto "Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance", Brazil's 2025 BRICS presidency will focus on two priorities, namely Global South cooperation and BRICS partnerships for social, economic and environmental development.
Brazil has invited Mexico, Uruguay and Colombia to attend the BRICS summit scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro in early July, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Saturday.

"I invite all these countries that are represented here - Uruguay, Colombia, Mexico - to participate in the BRICS [summit] in Brazil. I think that even if they are not members of the bloc, it is important that they attend, because it is a moment to communicate with the entire world," Lula da Silva told reporters.

Brazil assumed the rotating presidency of the bloc from Russia on January 1.
