MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Sudan has been facing intensified clashes between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since April 2023. The International Committee of the Red Cross said that the ongoing conflict could lead to disease outbreaks and the collapse of the national healthcare system.
Sudanese Ambassador to Moscow Mohammed Sirraj has expressed hope in an interview with Sputnik that the conflict in Sudan between the country's armed forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) would end in 2025.
"In 2025, when the RSF will lose on the ground and will not be able to sell its fabricated narratives, and the regional and international players who supported them will lose faith in them, I believe that 2025 will be the end of this terrorist militia," the ambassador said.

The diplomat added that the Sudanese armed forces were moving forward with the support of the Sudanese people, which he said the RSF perceives as a threat to the country’s well-being, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"It has been almost 20 months since the start of the war in Sudan. During this time, many lessons have been learned that will lay the foundation for future events in 2025," Sirraj said.
The conflict has claimed over 27,000 civilian lives, according to the latest estimates from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data non-profit organization. The hostilities have also left nearly 11 million people displaced, the World Health Organization said.
