BRICS has recently expanded significantly, with Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia joining in 2024, although the latter has yet to formalize its membership. Following the recent BRICS summit in Kazan, at least 13 countries were invited to join BRICS as partner countries, according to Russian officials.
Malaysia has officially accepted an invitation to become a partner country of the BRICS association, according to Malaysian Ambassador to Russia, Cheong Loon Lai.
Ambassador Lai confirmed to Russian media that Malaysia received an official invitation in mid-November and responded positively to Moscow, the current BRICS chair.

No Rejections Received From Countries Invited to Become BRICS Partners, Russian Deputy FM Says
This follows a recent BRICS summit in Kazan, where Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that a list of prospective partner countries had been agreed upon, although he did not reveal the full list at that time.
Putin explained that invitations would be sent, and the final list of partner countries would be announced after receiving positive responses.
