People-to-people ties, politics and security, economy and finance are three main spheres of BRICS member states cooperation, Special Policy Advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Minelik Alemu said at the fifth meeting of BRICS Sherpas/Sous-Sherpas in Russia’s Yekaterinburg. During the final meeting of BRICS representatives in 2024, the participants discussed key events organized this year under Russia’s chairmanship. Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said at the meeting that BRICS held over 250 events this year. He noted that progress had been achieved in various areas of BRICS member states cooperation, including the creation of the category of BRICS partner country and the agreement on the establishment of the BRICS Grain Exchange.

Ethiopian Foreign Ministry Outlines Three Main Spheres of BRICS Cooperation
From October 22 to 24, the 16th BRICS Summit took place in Russia's Kazan. The event was particularly significant as it marked the first time Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE participated as members, following their accession in January. More than 32 countries, including the full members, took part in the summit.
