Nigerian space agency launches production of surveillance and armed drones, a report says. In particular, the Defense Space Administration manufactures the AYBARS-II surveillance drone, ADAN 70 assault drone, SZK-290 surveillance drone, MIKIYA-20 drone, and the Oturukpokpo tactical resupply drone, an African media outlet said. According to the report, the space agency carried out the tests of the mentioned drones earlier in 2024. In September, the Nigerian Army held a seminar on "Digital Transformation and Smart Soldier Concept" in Jos, Nigeria, highlighting its commitment to adopting a "Smart Soldier" concept for modernization. Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, emphasized on the sidelines of the event the necessity to leverage advanced technologies for enhanced operations. Lt. General Lagbaja passed away at the beginning of November because of a serious disease, the press service of the Nigerian president said. President Bola Tinubu appointed Lt.
