Russia Condemns September 17 Terrorist Attack in Mali, Says Embassy
10:24 21.09.2024 (Updated: 14:11 23.09.2024) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - At least 77 people were killed and 255 injured in jihadist attacks on a gendarmerie school and an airport in Bamako on Tuesday, French media reported. Meanwhile, the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group in the Sahel, JNIM, which is banned in Russia, has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Russia strongly condemns a recent
militant attack on a gendarmerie school in the Malian capital of Bamako and expresses its support for the country's leadership and solidarity with the Malian people, the Russian Embassy in Mali said on Friday.
"The Russian Embassy in Mali expresses its deepest condolences and sympathy to the relatives and friends of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured. We strongly condemn this barbaric terrorist act and express our support for the leadership of Mali and solidarity with the Malian people," the diplomatic mission said on Telegram.
It also commented on the lack of response from the French Embassy in Mali.
"We have drawn attention to the professional hypocrites from the French embassy, who did not even bother to condemn the barbaric act of terrorism, its organizers, and perpetrators in Bamako on September 17. Further comments are meaningless," the Russian diplomatic mission said.
