WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - The United States does not give African countries an ultimatum on which other countries to choose as security partners, US Africa Command chief General Michael Langley said on Thursday.
“When we’ve engaged with our African partners, we don’t give them an ultimatum of whom to choose for a security partner,” Langley said during a press briefing, when asked about Russian and Chinese influence on the continent.
However, the US wants an understanding of its initiatives and how countries can cooperate to achieve shared objectives, Langley said.
Langley said that many of his efforts to come into alignment with countries on how to approach challenges have been “distorted” by misinformation and disinformation.
