BEIJING (Sputnik) - The Xiangshan Security Forum is being held in Beijing on September 12-14. Russian Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Alexander Fomin heads the Russian delegation at the forum.
Russia's special military operation in Ukraine has completely changed the concept of modern warfare, Fomin said on Friday at the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Security Forum.

"The special military operation in Ukraine has completely changed the concept of modern warfare. Just a few years ago, it was difficult to imagine the current scale of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles and other unmanned systems, the role of reconnaissance, communications, electronic warfare and suppression systems," Fomin said.

At the same time, the United States is actively working on a new version of its nuclear doctrine, in which the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons can be significantly lowered, Fomin noted.
"The United States is actively working on a new version of its nuclear doctrine, in which, we believe, the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons can be significantly lowered," Fomin said.

Russia’s Operation in Ukraine Acquires New Dimension After Kiev Invades Kursk

Moreover, the Russian special military operation in Ukraine acquired a new dimension after the Ukrainian armed forces invaded the Kursk region, Fomin added.

"After the Ukrainian armed forces invaded the territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation in early August this year, which was carried out with the comprehensive support of Western countries, the special military operation acquired a new dimension," Fomin said.

He noted that if earlier the Ukrainian government actively used the image of a victim in the international arena and presented military actions as a struggle for independence, then the aggression of the Ukrainian armed forces against the civilian population of Russia has finally exposed this lie.
Furthermore, NATO countries are making plans to send their troops to Ukraine in order to ensure conditions to force Russia to hold talks in line with Kiev's formulas, the Russian Deputy Defense Minister stated.
"In order to ensure conditions for forcibly coercing Russia into negotiations in line with Kiev's formulas, NATO countries are making plans to send their troops to Ukraine. This is a dangerous game that could lead to a direct military clash between nuclear powers," Fomin said.
