The BRICS Women's Business Alliance is an association of women entrepreneurs from the BRICS countries aimed at promoting women's entrepreneurship and increasing their participation in the economic processes of the member countries.
The number of applications for the BRICS Women's Business Alliance Startups Contest has exceeded 1,000, with South Africa,
Brazil, and India among the top three in terms of the number of applicants, said Anna Nesterova, Chairperson of the Russian Chapter of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance.
"The selection committee and jury will complete the review of applications submitted for the BRICS Women's Startups Contest by the end of August. To date, their number has amounted to more than 1,000 from 18 countries. The top three in terms of number of applicants are South Africa, Brazil and India," Nesterova said.
She noted that the projects were presented by participants not only from the bloc's member countries but also from states that are interested in cooperation with BRICS. A visit to Moscow will be organized for the winners of the competition to participate in the
award ceremony, which will be held at the BRICS Business Forum in October.
"The BRICS Women's Startups Contest is not just a competition; it is an opportunity for women from different countries to exchange experiences and ideas, thereby creating a new international business environment. Such cooperation creates conditions for accelerating technological development, increasing labor mobility, and accessibility of knowledge. This is our joint investment in a fair and sustainable future," the agency's interlocutor added.
The competition opened for entries in June. The international jury will select three winners by September in the fields of IT,
education, health and medicine, ecology, food security and agriculture, innovation and infrastructure, and artificial intelligence.
The following countries are participating in the competition: Brazil, Egypt, India, Iran, China, UAE, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, South Africa, Belarus, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Lesotho, Kyrgyzstan, Namibia, and Uzbekistan.
