Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed the settlement of the Sudanese conflict with Acting Foreign Minister of Sudan Hussein Awad Ali, confirming Moscow's commitment to an immediate ceasefire and establishing a national dialogue, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated. The meeting between Bogdanov and Hussein Awad Ali took place on Thursday in Moscow, where the latter was on a private visit. The parties also examined some practical issues related to further strengthening the traditionally friendly and multifaceted Russian-Sudanese relations.Earlier in June, the Russian delegation to the 56th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva asserted that imposing uniform solutions on Sudan in the areas of human rights and democracy is both unacceptable and counterproductive. The situation in the North African country escalated due to disagreements between the head of the RSF, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and the chairman of the Sovereign Council and army commander, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. The main discrepancies between them concern the formation of a unified armed force and the designation of the commander-in-chief.

Last April, clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese army began in Merowe and Khartoum cities and quickly spread to other parts of Sudan. As a result of the conflict, at least 15,550 people were killed, while more than 8.8 million people were forced to flee their homes, according to the UN.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister
Mikhail Bogdanov discussed the settlement of the Sudanese conflict with Acting Foreign Minister of Sudan Hussein Awad Ali, confirming Moscow's commitment to an immediate ceasefire and establishing a national dialogue, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
The meeting between Bogdanov and Hussein Awad Ali took place on Thursday in Moscow, where the latter was on a private visit.
"[...] The Russian side reaffirmed its principled position in support of an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of a sustainable nationwide dialogue to ensure the unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of the Republic of Sudan," the statement said.
The parties also examined some practical issues related to further strengthening the traditionally friendly and multifaceted
Russian-Sudanese relations.Earlier in June, the Russian delegation to the 56th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva asserted that imposing uniform solutions on Sudan in the areas of human rights and democracy is both unacceptable and counterproductive.
