The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states need to engage more actively with African countries as they are "fed up" with Western colonialism, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Wednesday.Belarus itself is an example of cooperation with the continent. The country has been particularly active in its engagement with Zimbabwe. A joint project between the two countries in the field of agricultural mechanization allowed Zimbabwe to export its own wheat for the first time in history. Earlier this year, Belarus also donated mobile hospitals, tractors and combine harvesters to the African country, and trade between the countries increased eightfold.

Belarus' Lukashenko Calls on EAEU to Engage With Africa More Actively
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted a summit of the Eurasian Economic Union — a regional economic union of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The event was held in Moscow under the chairmanship of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The
Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states need to engage more actively with African countries as they are "fed up" with
Western colonialism, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Wednesday.
"So far, not much attention has been paid to the union-level dialogue with the African continent. Africa, like Latin America, is fed up with colonialism from the respective leading countries. And this is the moment we have to come to Africa," Lukashenko said at the EAEU summit.
Belarus itself is an example of cooperation with the continent. The country has been particularly active in its engagement with Zimbabwe. A joint project between the two countries in the field of agricultural mechanization allowed Zimbabwe to export its own
wheat for the first time in history. Earlier this year, Belarus also donated
mobile hospitals,
tractors and combine harvesters to the African country, and trade between the countries
increased eightfold.
