Earlier in the day, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Aleinik was received by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Harare as part of a Belarusian delegation's visit to the African country. The minister presented Mnangagwa with an invitation from President Alexander Lukashenko to visit Minsk later this year.

Zimbabwe to export its own wheat for the first time in history, according to Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Aleinik.
"We have concentrated on a number of successfully implemented projects, primarily in the field of agricultural mechanization. This project was implemented in two phases. From my point of view, the project is historic. It is a project that has enabled Zimbabwe to become self-sufficient in wheat production. And by the end of 2023, for the first time in its history, Zimbabwe started exporting wheat to other countries," Aleinik told Sputnik.
Trade and economic relations between Belarus and Zimbabwe have also strengthened — by the end of 2023, the export of Belarusian products to the African country increased by 103%.
Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe's Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Frederick Shava confirmed during a Zimbabwe-Belarus ministerial meeting in Harare that bilateral trade between the two countries had increased eightfold by 2023.
"The excellent
bilateral relations that exist between Zimbabwe and Belarus have continued to grow at an exponential rate as illustrated by the frequent exchange of high-level visits and continuous engagements by our two Presidents in forums, the most recent being the meeting between our two Presidents on the sidelines of COP 28 that was held in Dubai in December 2023," the Zimbabwean minister said.
