In late January, the leader of the Сentral African nation arrived in the Russian capital to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss ways of strengthening relations between the two countries.
Chadian transitional President Mahamat Idriss Deby praised the results of his visit to Moscow in late January, saying in an interview with French media that the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin were useful and focused on cooperation in various fields.
"We had very fruitful talks with President Putin based on mutual respect. We discussed issues on which our views coincide," the Chadian leader said.
According to the president, the talks focused on military cooperation as well as economic interaction and diplomatic contacts.
"I can say that I am satisfied with this visit," he stressed, noting the importance of bilateral economic relations between Russia and Chad.
When asked about relations between N'Djamena and Paris, Idriss Deby said that "Chad intends to cooperate with all countries that are willing to work together in a spirit of mutual respect."
Earlier in January, the Chadian leader called his visit to Russia "historic" and expressed hope that it would help strengthen bilateral relations between Chad and Russia.
