Putin is 'Someone Who Deserved to Be Elected,' President of Burundi's National Assembly Says

Russian presidential elections, which were held on March 15-17, were monitored by more than 700 international observers from 106 countries, who highlighted high turnout, transparency and high level of technology at the vote. As a result of the election, Vladimir Putin got reelected with a record result of over 87%.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was re-elected for his new term, is "someone who deserved to be elected," president of Burundi's National Assembly Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe told Sputnik Africa.
He assured that "the Russian people were not mistaken," because the incumbent president "has achieved a lot. It was the actions, the activities that he carried out in his country, that got him re-elected."
"Thanks to his political and diplomatic actions in all directions, [...] he was the one who left his mark on all humanity. [...] He has raised his country to a very high level," the official underlined.
According to him, the reelection of the Russian leader will contribute to the consolidation of the balance in the world and the progress toward multipolarity.
"And through him, therefore, through this election, we all have the hope that this much-sought balance of the world, this new order in fact, can be strengthened, consolidated. I would not say that it will be achieved, but the approach will be strengthened, will be consolidated so that finally we can actually achieve it safely," Ndabirabe noted.
Commenting on the Russian presidential elections themselves, he highlighted that the organization was "transparent."
"But if we look at the organization, the organization was transparent. And then those who wanted to ask or inquire what was going on got explanations, we got them ourselves. Those who wanted to go in, for example, to see what was going on, they went in, they saw, so there was nothing to hide. They didn't hide anything. So that is good," he said.
The official also underscored a "very overwhelming turnout," which is, according to him "a very eloquent, very eloquent sign that the candidate is very much loved."
"Another thing is that this is a very overwhelming turnout. When you say that we have never seen such a large number of participants, this is already a very eloquent, very eloquent sign that the candidate is very much loved, the candidate has been welcomed. The people have already accepted this through their participation," he emphasized.
The senior official highlighted the friendliness of staff at polling station and the practicality of the electronic mode of the elections.
"We were able to enter the polling stations. What we noticed, we were explained freely, but we were strangers. We were explained freely, kindly," he stressed.
'Opening the Eyes'
Speaking about the Ukrainian conflict, Ndabirabe pointed out that it "has opened the eyes of the African peoples."
"There is something good in everything that concerns misfortune; even in something black, you can find something white. [...] Through the explanations and justifications that have been given by each other, we have understood what we never knew," he stressed.
He went on to explain that Africa "finally realized that currencies, the dollar and the euro, are actually floating currencies. In fact the survival of these currencies depends on the raw materials," that are extracted in Africa.
