On March 15-17, Russia held presidential elections, the eighth in the country's modern history. According to the latest data from the Central Election Commission, with almost all ballots counted, Putin is leading with 87.29% of the vote.
With more than 87% of the vote, Russian President Vladimir
Putin gains undeniable legitimacy among his people, which not only approves his work, but also of the current path of the Russian Federation, Malick Niang, a Senegalese businessman, told Sputnik Africa.
"A result of 87% is irrevocable and cannot be challenged [...]. This shows the vitality of Russian democracy, but also the quality of the electoral process," Niang stressed.
The
election results show that there is an understanding that something very important is at stake, not only for Russia, but for the world, he added.
According to Niang, Putin's new presidency will make it possible to continue the course of strengthening Russian-African cooperation, to which the Russian leader has given new impetus.
"All the projects that have already been started can be continued and even accelerated in the coming months. This is all the more important as many African countries are now implementing a large number of economic projects with Russia," he said.
