Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia will continue cooperation with African countries in the field of education and increase the quota of African students studying in Russian universities.
Learning Russian makes Cameroonian students in demand as specialists in bilateral cooperation, which also helps to fight unemployment, Fadimatou Iyawa Ousmanou, President of Cameroon's National Youth Council and head of the Cameroonian delegation to the World Youth Festival, told Sputnik.
"If there is a potential for business to fight unemployment, the young Cameroonians who see the opportunity to get a scholarship here from the Russian government will be able to collaborate and become an entry point for Russian companies in Cameroon... In the curriculum of Cameroon or Africa in general, we will look for a way to include the study of the Russian language in our educational program so that there is no language barrier between Russia and Cameroon in terms of cooperation and seizing opportunities," the official revealed.
Students from Cameroon who have already been educated in Russia will be able to become ambassadors of Russian culture in Africa and help strengthen relations between the two countries, Iyawa Ousmanou added.
"We had the opportunity to meet with Cameroonian youth from the diaspora here [in Russia]. And they are ready to go back to Cameroon and work. And the big advantage is that they already have skills in terms of knowing Russia and its regions, they have lived here and they speak the language," she pointed out.
The president of the council added that these Cameroonian students will be "good ambassadors of Russia" in the West African country and "the Cameroonian youth will be able to learn from them."
