Russia's Lavrov, Brazilian Diplomat Discuss Coordinating Efforts in UN, BRICS, G20, Moscow Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russia, as a chair of BRICS in 2024, plans to establish a close partnership with the G20 to strengthen the voice of the Global South and East, the Russian Foreign Ministry said last Wednesday.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Brazilian Secretary-General of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Maria Laura da Rocha have expressed their countries' mutual interest in coordinating efforts in the UN, BRICS and the G20, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"When discussing international issues, mutual interest was expressed in close coordination of the two countries' efforts in the UN, BRICS, and the G20," the ministry said in a statement.

During the meeting, Lavrov positively assessed the state and prospects of the strategic partnership between Russia and Brazil, emphasizing the important role of the two countries' foreign ministries in their progressive development, according to the statement.
Special attention was paid to the further strengthening of political dialogue and practical cooperation between the two countries with an emphasis on the material, cultural and humanitarian components, the ministry added.
