After the military seized power in Niger as a result of the coup in July 2023, France experienced the decline of its influence in the country. On the wake of anti-French sentiment in Niger, the nation's new authorities put an end to military partnership with France and won the withdrawal of French soldiers from Niger's soil.
Nigerien delegation, headed by the country's prime minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, will pay a visit to the Russian capital, Moscow, a source told Sputink Africa.
According to earlier, reports, the delegation will include the ministers of defense, oil, youth and sports, agriculture, trade and health. Apart from Russia, the delegation also plans to visit Serbia, Turkey and Iran, the media said.

The purpose of the visits is to "diversify" the range of partners, the report noted. The country's authorities reportedly want to explore opportunities for cooperation in various fields, including defense, agriculture, energy, healthcare and oil.
Niger is seeking new cooperation opportunities while actively breaking free of its historical association with its former colonizer, France.
The West African nation ceased its military collaboration with France, secured the pullout of the French troops from Niger's territory and the expulsion of the French ambassador to Niger, Sylvain Itte.
