Nearly 1.5 tonnes of cocaine were seized by the Moroccan police, the Directorate General of National Security stated on its X (formerly Twitter) account.The drugs were hidden in banana boxes in the northern port of Tanger Med.The substance was discovered in a container aboard a ship heading to Turkey, which had a European flag, and departing from South America, the media reported, citing the police.The Moroccan police stated that the operation was carried out in cooperation with Spanish security forces. They also mentioned that an investigation is now underway, reports revealed.In early December, Morocco's National Drug Control Directorate intercepted 215.82 kilograms of cocaine in the Mediterranean port of Tangier.Also in October, law enforcement officials in Casablanca successfully seized a large shipment of cocaine.
