Earlier, the Moroccan police and customs authorities in Dakhla town discovered 16 hidden packages of cocaine totaling 362.9 kilograms, during a search of a truck entering the country, the Directorate General of National Security reported.
Nearly 1.5 tonnes of cocaine were seized by the Moroccan police, the Directorate General of National Security stated on its X (formerly Twitter) account.
The drugs were hidden in banana boxes in the northern port of Tanger Med.
The substance was discovered in a container aboard a ship heading to Turkey, which had a European flag, and departing from South America, the media reported, citing the police.
The Moroccan police stated that the operation was carried out in cooperation with Spanish security forces. They also mentioned that an investigation is now underway, reports revealed.
