The details of the new proposals for Russia on the grain deal will be discussed at the talks of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the General Assembly next week, a source, participating in the technical delegation on the grain deal, told Sputnik on Thursday. On Wednesday, Guterres said that he will meet with the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey as well as with Lavrov during the high-level week for talks on the Black Sea grain deal. Ankara's dialogue with Western partners on the grain deal is sometimes difficult, the official added. Russian President Vladimir Putin previously noted that the terms of the deal regarding Russia were not being honored despite UN efforts because Western countries were not going to keep their promises.

New Grain Deal Proposals for Russia to Be Discussed Next Week, Source Says
ANKARA (Sputnik) - On July 18, the Black Sea grain Initiative, a Turkey- and UN-mediated effort to create a humanitarian corridor for Ukrainian grain exports over the past year, expired as Russia did not renew its part of the deal.
On Wednesday, Guterres said that
he will meet with the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey as well as with Lavrov during the high-level week for talks on the Black Sea grain deal.
"Turkey and the UN have jointly developed a number of new proposals for the Russian side [on the grain deal]. They will be discussed at meetings of the UN Secretary General with Mr. President [Erdogan] and the head of the Russian delegation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. These proposals concern ship insurance and payment for Russian exports," the source said.
Ankara's dialogue with
Western partners on the grain deal is sometimes difficult, the official added.
"We explain to our partners, the EU countries, that we cannot work alone to restore the grain corridor, we need guarantees and fulfillment of the promises made on Russian exports [of agricultural products]," the source explained.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously noted that the terms of the deal regarding Russia were not being honored despite UN efforts because Western countries were not going to keep their promises.
