The Russian Civic Chamber has released a report on its foreign election observation missions in 2023. Published on Wednesday, the report features conclusions made by Russian observers after visiting a number of countries around the world during their elections.
"The criteria of objectivity imposed by the West, which they do not apply to themselves, have already set the world majority's teeth on the edge," Pavel Andreev, a member of the Russian Central Electoral Commission, wrote in the report.
The countries analyzed include African ones such as the Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Kenya, Angola, and Tunisia.
Interesting facts about the countries' voting systems published in the report:
Voting Hours
Among all the countries analyzed in the report, in Guinea-Bissau, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini, voters have the most time to cast their ballots, with polling stations open for 12 hours (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM).
Accessibility and Inclusivity
Guinea-Bissau offers an accessible voting method for illiterate voters, allowing them to cast their ballot by placing their fingerprint in a designated box.
Zimbabwe demonstrates commitment to inclusivity with specially adapted voting booths for people with disabilities at each polling station.
In the open air
Many polling stations in Guinea-Bissau are located outdoors, making voting susceptible to weather conditions. Additionally, the lack of a comprehensive system of street markings and building numbers can make it difficult to locate polling stations, often relying on landmarks like public buildings or the homes of well-known residents.
