The design for the new Hassan II stadium, inspired by traditional Moroccan marquees or tents used in large events called Moussem, was unveiled by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, and Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, the media reported.
With a capacity of 115,000 spectators, the stadium will be among the largest in the world. It was designed by the American architectural firm Populous in collaboration with the Franco-Moroccan firm Oulalous + Choi (O+C), which won the competition to design the stadium for the 2030 World Cup.
