Three people died and 27 others were injured in an attack on a hotel in Somalia's capital of Mogadishu carried out by al-Shabaab terrorists (affiliated with al-Qaeda*) on Friday, Somalian media reported, citing the police.
The three fatalities are all military, while the 27 people with injuries include 18 civilians and nine military personnel, the Sonna news agency reported, citing police spokesperson Kasim Ahmed Roble.
Al-Shabaab has long waged an insurgency campaign against Somalia's federal government and UN agencies, seeking to impose a radical version of Sharia law in the country.
