MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Militants of the radical Islamist group al-Shabaab* have attached a hotel near the presidential palace in the Somali capital Mogadishu, having injured several officials and lawmakers, Somali media reported on Friday.
The Mogadishu24 news portal reported that the al-Shabaab militants detonated a car bomb at the SYL hotel and engaged in a gunfight inside the hotel.
Mogadishu Municipality Secretary General Feysal Arale, SMS TV Station Director Hassan Adde, Somali Government spokesperson Farhan Mohamed Jimale, the director general of the Somali Justice Ministry, as well as the chief of special police forces unit and other soldiers, have been injured during the attack, the web portal said on X.
