Earlier in the day, a source in the IAEA said that Grossi is expected to visit Russia in early March.
"We can confirm that Director General Grossi is planning a high-level visit to Russia in early March 2024," the IAEA said.
Earlier, Alexei Likhachev, head of Russian state atomic energy corporation Rosatom, expressed hope that Grossi will visit Russia on March 6. Initially, the visit of the head of the IAEA to Moscow was planned for mid-February, that is, after his visit to Kiev and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP), but was repeatedly postponed.
Grossi said that during his visit to Russia, he intends to discuss at a high level the prospects for the development of the situation around the Zaporozhye NPP.
