A 25% Increase in Russian-Egyptian Trade Expected as Result of 2023, Official Says

In 2022, Russian-Egyptian trade increased by almost 30% and exceeded $6 billion, according to the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov. Russian exports to the African country include metals, textiles, wood, machine-building products and wheat, he added.

A 25% increase in trade between Russia and Egypt is expected as a result of 2023, Alexey Tevanian, Russia's trade representative in Egypt, told Sputnik.
"In 2023, the positive dynamics of trade between the two countries continues, especially in the field of Russian exports. For 2023, we expect that trade will increase by a quarter and will exceed $7 billion," Tevanian estimated.

For Egypt, Russian wheat is one of the main products imported from Russia. In the first three months of the crop year, July-September, the North African country became the leading importer of Russian grain, the Union of Grain Exporters said.
In December, another 480,000 tonnes of Russian wheat was bought by Egypt, the country's General Authority for Supply of Commodities (GASC) announced.
