Ethiopia & China Agree to Collaborate on Local Vaccine Manufacturing: Ethiopia's Research Institute
Ethiopia's Bio and Emerging Technology Institute (BETin) hosted productive talks with delegates from the China National Center for Biotechnology Development (CNCBD) and China Medical City to expand partnerships in biotech research.
BETin presented its key achievements and ongoing initiatives:
▪ Vaccine and diagnostic development research;
▪ Genomic sequencing capacity and bioinformatics trainings;
▪ Cholera and animal vaccine research;
▪ COVID-19 testing, SARS-CoV-2 surveillance, and National Virus Research Center (NVRC) activities;
▪ Agricultural and industrial biotechnology innovations.
CNCBD shared China's expertise in biotech program management, policy, industrial biotech, and international cooperation with BETin. Both sides identified promising collaboration opportunities to advance innovation for global health and a sustainable bioeconomy.
ℹ Earlier, Ethiopia agreed to establish Joint Ethiopia-Russia biological research center.
