Algeria Leads Preparations to Extend Trans-Saharan Highway Into Chad
According to a statement from the Ministry of Public Works, a technical team from Algeria’s National Public Works Company joined the topography unit at Chad’s Ngouri-Bol road project site from Wednesday to Saturday as part of the Trans-Saharan Highway missions.
Why it matters:
The visit formed part of the third technical mission linked to preparations for the highway extension.
It follows direct orders from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to strengthen Algeria-Chad bilateral cooperation in public works and infrastructure—with a focus on on-site monitoring of strategic African projects.
The bigger picture:
Once complete, the Trans-Saharan Highway is expected to improve regional connectivity and boost trade and economic integration across Africa.
