Museveni Becomes Uganda's President for Seventh Time
Yoweri Museveni, 81, took the presidential oath for his seventh five-year term, winning 71% of the vote in the January 15 election.
During the ceremony attended by a large crowd, he swore to uphold the constitution.
In total, 35 foreign delegations were present at the ceremony, including a record 10 heads of state:
Samia Suluhu Hassan (Tanzania);
Salva Kiir Mayardit (South Sudan);
Évariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi);
Félix Tshisekedi (DRC);
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud (Somalia);
Taye Atske Selassie (Ethiopia);
Brahim Ghali (Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic);
Daniel Francisco Chapo (Mozambique);
Faure Gnassingbé (Togo);
Brice Oligui Nguema (Gabon).
