Morocco Plans $1.28 Billion AI Factory
Morocco is set to host a $1.28 billion AI factory, following a memorandum of understanding signed between Nexus Core Systems and Moroccan authorities at GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech (April 7–9).
The facility will include:
A high-performance computing (HPC) data center
A training and knowledge transfer center
An innovation hub for next-generation solutions
"Morocco offers a combination of political stability, forward-looking leadership, and strong talent," Jaap Zuiderveld, CEO of Nexus Core Systems, said.
Phased rollout:
Phase 1: $540 million for a 16 MW hub in Nouaceur
Phase 2: $756 million for 20 MW at a separate site
The project supports Morocco's "Digital 2030" strategy—launched in 2024 to grow the digital economy to 5% of GDP, create 270,000 jobs, develop 3,000 startups, and digitize public services. The AI factory alone is expected to generate 125 direct jobs by 2027.
