Africa 'is No Longer Willing to Accept What Western Bloc Tries to Dictate,' Says Ethiopian Legal Advisor
Africa has been increasing its assertiveness on matters that might affect its own interests and been detaching itself from the so-called Western blocs, Andualem Bewuketu told Sputnik Africa.
He also called for the profound reform of the UNHRC.
"Reform is absolutely necessary. Since time, we can see that there is a growing disbelief of members are not now able to trust such institutions because of their political bias against some countries. So, the Council has lost its trust among members and others," he clarified.
On the issue of the UNHRC's lost legitimacy, he proposed:
▪halting selective enforcement because it's very biased some countries and that gives a blind eye for some others;
▪equal applying to all states including Western nations
▪de-politization of decision-making
▪respecting sovereignty of the council's members
ℹ Earlier on Tuesday, Ethiopia, Cuba, China and Burundi voted down the anti-Russian resolution during the session.
