How Can Africa Enhance Continent's Energy Security? Kenyan Expert Explains
Amid disruptions in the Middle East, African producers need to "balance between export expansion and domestic energy security" to become "reliable pillars of global energy security," expert in African customs, trade and transport policies & regulations, AfCFTA, Danilo Desiderio, told Sputnik Africa.
"Nigeria's fuel export boom, driven mostly by the Dangote refinery, represents a major opportunity for Africa," he noted.
However, the expert emphasized the requirements for elevating of strategic importance of African producers:
▶long-term planning,
▶strategic investment,
▶risk diversification.
"African producers must spread their supply across multiple partners and destinations rather than focusing on a few markets or even worse, on a single buyer," he added.
