Niger, Algeria Break Ground on 40 MW 'Solidarity' Power Plant Near Niamey
The event brought together senior officials from both governments and institutions overseeing this flagship project, which is designed to boost Niger’s energy capacity, the Nigerien Foreign Ministry reported.
The plant supports the vision of Niger’s leadership to strengthen the country’s energy sovereignty, improving the national electricity grid, it added.
The project also stems from commitments made during President Tiani’s working visit to Algeria last February, which aimed to revitalize bilateral cooperation and fast‑track joint initiatives in key areas, including energy and environmental infrastructure, the ministry noted.
