ECOWAS Proposes Strategic Food Reserves Creation Amid Iran Crisis
A meeting, which brought together ECOWAS agriculture ministers, regional agencies and technical and financial partners, resulted in a proposed medium- and long‑term operational framework, the bloc’s press service reported.
The initiative mainly aims to build up regional strategic food reserves before prices jump sharply. It will be backed by liquidity swaps between the region’s central banks to address importers’ foreign currency shortages.
