Speaking at the opening of the 10th Hortiflora Expo, Sofia Kassa stated that Ethiopia is intensifying its efforts to transform the agricultural sector by focusing on:

irrigation expansion;

Over the past budget year, the industry brought in over half a billion dollars in export earnings, with flower products making up 80% of that total, Ato Nega Mekonnen, chairman of the Board of the Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association, told Sputnik Africa.

"Today, the sector has created job opportunities for nearly 200,000 Ethiopians, most of whom are women and youth," Mekonnen added.
