'Cooperation Between Energy Producers Can Prevent an Unprecedented Global Crisis': Angolan Energy Diplomacy Specialist

Energy markets are facing growing pressure as tensions in the Middle East, price swings and supply risks continue to reshape global dynamics.

Countries are increasingly looking for ways to strengthen stability through new partnerships between producing regions, Sebastiao Mateus told Sputnik Africa.

“Regions like Nigeria have untapped energy potential that, if combined with the expertise and investment capacity of Gulf producers, could create more stable and predictable global markets.

Nigeria’s oil and gas reserves could help fill gaps when supply from other regions is unstable, while ongoing investments in refining are gradually reducing reliance on imports.

Nigeria can increase its export revenues and strengthen its strategic position as a reliable supplier. This offers not only immediate fiscal gains, but also the chance to consolidate investments in energy infrastructure and increase its regional influence.

Mateus noted that joint projects on infrastructure and security could strengthen supply chains and protect critical facilities from disruptions.

‍‍‍ He added that cooperation could also support diversification into gas and renewables, helping both regions expand export opportunities and enhance global energy resilience.
