Russian Barque Krusenstern's Voyage Sparks Excitement as About 5,000 People Visit It in Mauritius
During the four-day stopover, Krusenstern was visited by a variety of guests, including high-ranking officials, ordinary citizens of the island nation, tourists, and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions.
The Mauritian Minister of Agriculture, Arvin Boolell, also paid a visit to the ship after talks with his Russian counterpart Oksana Lut.
The barque had not stopped in Mauritius for almost 20 years. To reach the island, it traveled approximately 9,500 nautical miles (17,500 km).
On Sunday, the tall ship will sail back to its home port of Kaliningrad in Russia.
