Russian scientists have
begun research in the Mozambique region as part of the Great African Expedition.
"The research vessel Atlantida is operating in the exclusive economic zone of Mozambique. Catches from control trawls varied from 2 to 134 kg per trawl. The main catches include luminous anchovies, sharks, squid, and shrimp. In total, over the course of a week (from March 22 to 28), 971 kg of aquatic biological resources were collected," the expedition report stated.
At the same time, according to the expedition, the research vessel Atlantniru continues bottom surveys off the coast of Guinea-Bissau. The main catches consist of West African horse mackerel, African ilisha, and hake.
