Mujahid was quoted as saying by the Tolo News website that the role of the United Nations in restoring relations between Afghanistan and the world was significant and called on the UN to come up with a plan on how to bring Afghanistan back to the international fold. Mujahid said that some western countries, including the United States, had prevented Afghanistan from taking its rightful place in the UN, the Ariana News website reported. He criticized countries that sent troops to Afghanistan in the past for clinging to the idea that they can suppress Afghanistan in the international arena. The Afghan government spokesman denied that Afghanistan remained isolated, arguing that the new Afghan government was successfully fostering diplomatic relations with countries in the region and beyond. The Taliban movement (under UN sanctions for terrorism) came to power in Afghanistan in August 2021 after toppling a US-backed government as US and NATO troops hastily withdrew from the country after almost 20 years of presence. Numerous countries and international organizations responded to the Taliban takeover by cutting aid to and ties with Kabul. On Monday, the Russian Supreme Court told Sputnik that it had received an administrative claim from the Prosecutor General of Russia to suspend the ban on the activities of the Taliban, which is designated as a terrorist organization by Russia. The court said that the claim will be considered on April 17.

Afghanistan to Actively Seek International Recognition in 2025, Government Spokesperson Says
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The government of Afghanistan will take practical steps to restore diplomatic relations with other countries and reenergize efforts to obtain international recognition in 2025, Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has said.
Mujahid was quoted as saying by the Tolo News website that the role of the United Nations in restoring relations between Afghanistan and the world was significant and called on the UN to come up with a plan on how to bring Afghanistan back to the international fold.
"Still, it is their responsibility to take fundamental steps in restoring relations between Afghanistan and the world, especially the United Nations, and to value these ties. Afghanistan is an important country for the world and the UN, and the rights of the Afghan people are being undermined in this stance," he said.
Mujahid said that some western countries, including the United States, had prevented Afghanistan from taking its rightful place in the UN, the Ariana News website reported. He criticized countries that sent troops to Afghanistan in the past for clinging to the idea that they can suppress Afghanistan in the international arena.
