Regaining Khartoum is vital for the country as "the symbol of our sovereignty," Sudanese Ambassador to Russia Mohammed Elghazali Eltigani Sirrag told Sputnik Africa, adding that it marks a new era for peace, with the army and people determined to crush the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia once and for all. When asked about the RSF's future, the ambassador said he saw none, citing their lack of a legitimate plan and the fact that civilians didn't feel safe with them. He concluded their only option was surrender, having no future political or economic role in the nation. Regarding peace and lingering tensions, Sirrag stated it required unity, seeing the newfound determination to defeat the militia as paving the way for lasting peace and the national rebuilding without the RSF. He also stated this victory, though symbolic, showed the Sudanese army won a war of attrition, noting "the patience, the dedication, the hard work has materialized at the end of the day."

"I think it's just the beginning, beginning of an old war march to free all the regions of Sudan, starting [with] Kordofan and Darfur and to establish a new era of peace where equal distribution of wealth and authority, Abobakr Mohamad Abobakr, Professor at Bauman Moscow State Technical University, told Sputnik Africa.
