MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) - An explosion on a barge carrying personnel from the Venezuelan oil and gas company PDVSA resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to six others, according to Venezuelan media reports, which cited a security report from the company.
This incident took place early in the morning on Lake Maracaibo in the northwestern part of the country and its cause remains unknown, reports said. The Cristy Bay vessel was transporting personnel assigned to PDVSA Cuenca Occidente.
Following the explosion at the ship's bow, nine individuals were forced to jump into the water, with six being successfully rescued.
