At the end of February, Burkina Faso also launched a new flour mill named Moulin Double Star. This facility was constructed at a cost of about $24.7 million and boasts a production capacity of 220 tonnes of flour and 80 tonnes of bran daily. The mill is expected to create nearly 300 direct jobs and over 10,000 seasonal jobs.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady Zinash Tayachew inaugurated a state-of-the-art bread and flour processing factory in the Afar Region over the weekend.
Built by the Office of the First Lady, the facility boasts advanced milling equipment capable of processing 420 quintals of wheat daily, while its bakery produces an impressive 300,000 loaves of bread every 24 hours, according to the PM Office.

Their visit also included key agricultural and industrial projects, underscoring Afar’s growing production capacity. They toured an iodized salt manufacturing plant that now produces 15 tonnes per hour, an animal feed bank development center, and a wheat farm, where the region has successfully launched summer wheat cultivation using irrigation.
The visit to the Afar Region emphasized its growing capacity to achieve food self-sufficiency, according to the PM.
