The ESP is a digital platform designed to improve seed sector coordination, data management, and access to quality seeds for farmers. It will connect various stakeholders, including seed producers, distributors, and researchers, to streamline the seed value chain and boost agricultural productivity.
Ethiopia is prioritizing the digitalization of its agricultural sector, with plans to pilot the Ethiopian Seed Platform (ESP) later this year, announced Agriculture Minister Girma Amente.
The announcement came during a seed sector forum held in Adama on Saturday, bringing together regional and national seed coordination committees.

Minister Amente acknowledged the ambitious goal set last year to double improved seed production to two million quintals but stressed that even this increase would not fully satisfy demand.
