The United States does not plan any ground operation in Yemen, but air strikes will be conducted until the Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, loses the ability to influence sea traffic in the region, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday. The United States does not plan any ground operation in Yemen, but
air strikes will be conducted until the Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, loses the ability to influence sea traffic in the region, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday.
"We are not going to have these people [Houthis] controlling which ships can go through and which ones can not. And so your question is how long will this [air strikes] go on? It will go on until they no longer have the capability to do that," Rubio told the CBS broadcaster.
Asked if the US was considering ground raids against the Houthis, the US official said that there was no such "necessity right now," but noted that it was up to the military to decide.
Earlier in the day, senior Houthi political office member Hezam al-Asad told
Sputnik that Ansar Allah was not going to conduct any talks with the US until it retaliates against

"Yemen has suffered violent American aggression against its civilian facilities and houses across various Yemeni cities, which was an attempt [by the US] to dissuade [Yemen] from supporting the besieged civilians of the Gaza Strip. Americans must receive Yemen's military response," al-Asad pointed out.
He said that there are no talks between Yemen and the US.
"We do not belong to those who accept that the sovereignty of their country has been violated and then go to truce or negotiations before the enemy receives a painful and deterrent response," he emphasized.
