European countries plan to deploy a peacekeeping contingent of over 10,000 in Ukraine, The Times newspaper reported on Sunday, citing a UK military source. Over 35 countries have agreed to provide weapons, material, technical and intelligence support to the prospective European mission, the newspaper claimed. Moreover, the UK is ready to deploy thousands of its soldiers as part of a peacekeeping force in Ukraine "for years," according to The Times.Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier in March that the presence of NATO states' troops on Ukrainian territory under any flag, in any capacity, including as peacekeepers, was a threat to Russia, and Moscow would not accept this under any circumstances. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service has estimated that the West could deploy some 100,000 troops in Ukraine under the guise of a peacekeeping force to restore its combat capabilities. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has argued that in any conflict, the deployment of foreign peacekeepers is only possible with the consent of all parties to the conflict.

European Countries Reportedly Planning to Deploy Over 10,000 Peacekeepers in Ukraine, Reports Say
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Although a significant part of the contingent will be provided by the United Kingdom and France, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has reportedly succeeded in engaging more European countries than those three that had initially pitched sending troops to Ukraine.
European countries plan to deploy a
peacekeeping contingent of over 10,000 in Ukraine, The Times newspaper reported on Sunday, citing a UK military source.
"It will be a significant force with a significant number of countries providing troops and a much larger group contributing in other ways," the source was quoted as saying.
Over 35 countries have agreed to provide weapons, material, technical and intelligence support to the prospective European mission, the newspaper claimed.
Moreover, the UK is ready
to deploy thousands of its soldiers as part of a peacekeeping force in Ukraine "for years," according to The Times.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey
Lavrov said earlier in March that the presence of NATO states' troops on Ukrainian territory under any flag, in any capacity, including as peacekeepers, was a threat to Russia, and Moscow would not accept this under any circumstances.
