Earlier, the President of the Interim Regional Administration of Tigray, Getachew Reda, called on all stakeholders to take necessary measures to prevent the region from descending into unnecessary chaos and war.

The African Union urged all the parties in the Tigray conflict to respect the ceasefire agreement between the Tigray People's Liberation Front and the Ethiopian authorities.

"The AU urges all stakeholders to honor their commitments and work collaboratively towards a peaceful resolution," the union's statement said.
