The BRICS group needs to become more significant, while NATO’s role should decrease, Roger Waters, a co-founder of British rock band Pink Floyd, said in an interview with RIA Novosti. The musician also said that the United States "empire" is not the leader of a "unipolar world" anymore. Furthermore, Waters noted that there is a "glimmer of hope" for the Ukrainian conflict to end given the latest negotiations between Russia and the United States.On February 12, Putin and Trump spoke over the phone for nearly an hour and a half. They discussed issues related to the exchange of Russian and US citizens, as well as the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The call was followed up by in-person talks between top Russian and US diplomats in the Saudi capital of Riyadh a week later.For Waters, the reasoning behind the change of direction of the US foreign policy is rather the question of money more than the issue of human rights.

Waters has already spoken twice at the UNSC, and once at the UN Human Rights Council over 12 years ago.

"We need more BRICS and less NATO," Waters said when asked if Russophobia in its current form can ever disappear from the Western world, pointing at the fact that the world is becoming multipolar and these dynamics could potentially change the perception of Russia.
The musician also said that the
United States "empire" is not the leader of a "unipolar world" anymore.
"There are other very powerful groupings: BRICS, China, obviously India … the people of the world are getting a little bit more power," the political activist highlighted.
Furthermore, Waters noted that there is a "glimmer of hope" for the Ukrainian conflict to end given the latest negotiations between
